I just updated to the latest version of the HiJack tool and when I click the "Play" link next to things, I would expect that it would start playing that on the player itself. Am I wrong in thinking this? I thought this because theres a Stream button now for those of us that would rather stream the data vs play it on the player.

Yeah, did you try clicking on the link? Did it not do what you expected it to do?

Yeah when I clicked the link it didn't do anything. The player just sat there at the end of a playlist. :-/

Strange. Worked fine for me when I tried it. Mess with it some more and see if there's something else wrong. Do the other links work?

All the other links work fine. I can navigate the playlist fine, and stream just fine. Just Play doesnt work.

Have you tried pressing the Play link when the player is already playing something else? What happens?

Very odd. Don't see why this wouldn't work, it works fine on mine and no one else has reported this. Have you tried playing several different songs/playlists to see if it's an issue with that particular one?

Question:

Do you have hijack serial commands disabled through your config.ini? If possible, post your config.ini so that we can rule out configuration issues. Thanks!

Good call. Hijack uses the serial interface to send commands to the player. It must be related to that.

See if it works when you remove khttpd_files=0 from the list.

Well, I dont think I have the serial interface disabled because I just uploaded the latest HiJack this morning using the serial port. Unless thats not what you guys are talking about.

Actually, that one was experience... I was listening to the player at work and someone (through the hijack playlist interface) changed the song. A bit of a surprise, but I knew what happened - I was running snoop on my Sun box watching for inbound connections to the empeg. I shut the command options off for that reason...

I changed it to khttpd_files=1 and it still doesnt work. Then I removed the line totally and it still didn't work. Any other ideas?

No, the config looks fine. Do you have anything else running on the serial port? An open hyperterm connection?

Or some other installed software that wants the serial port, something internal to the empeg?

Also try removing everything under the [hijack] section in config.ini and see if it works.

Nope. I even unplugged the serial cable and rebooted it just to be sure.

Another thought, do ANY of the commands work? Can you feed in, say, a reboot command from the http interface?

I'll try and remove everything under the HiJack menu now. In he meantime, how to I send a reboot command via the http prompt?

Hm! That implies that the structure (hijack and serial) is working, but that the playlist specific commands are not. Can you try just playing the root playlist? Also, can you try a slightly older revision of hijack. Maybe a bug was introduced in the latest changes.

Question:

Do you have any style sheets, html or other data, or are you just using the generated playlist display? Can you put a sniffer (snoop, etc.) in place to watch the command as it hits the empeg? If not, I don't know if this one will work, but try enabling http logging and have an open hyperterminal session to watch the command if it is correctly formed. You might also want to hover over the link, verifying that it is in the correct format...

What browser are you using? What does the link look like? i.e., http://empeg/?FID=blah&SERIAL=blah&EXT=.htm ...

Well, the serial "play FID" command does not work in beta7, and possibly not in earlier betas either. So if the person is using anything other than beta11, all bets are off.

Cheers

The relevant option is "khttpd_commands=1", which happens to be the default setting.

That must be it. I'm using beta7. I tried beta11, but I had problems with it. It wouldn't stay on the Track info screen from what I remember.

Okay, people, please don't report bugs unless you're using the latest software, K?

Or things like this will tend to happen.

Or at least mention that you're using older software if you must report the bug.

The bug in beta11 where it comes up in Info:Transient instead of Info:Track is easy to get around. You have a couple of options.

You can put an initial= line into the IR Translate section in your config.ini to inject one press of the info button, OR you can use Mark's temporary Hijack menu item that works around this problem by doing its own restore of visual mode for AC operation.

So... Try b11.
